LITTLE Notes music classes have returned to Penarth this autumn, with a new leader holding the baton.

Mother Rebecca Warner, who studied music at Oxford University before becoming a radio producer for BBC Radio 3 and 4, will bring a weekly class to Trinity Methodist Church.

“I took a break from producing after having my first daughter, and when my second was born, I took her along to Little Notes classes in Penarth, led by an amazing professional cellist called Judith Souter. I was really impressed that even in a class for babies, we were being introduced to live music with real instruments and proper, well-constructed lesson plans. Two years on, my daughter still sings the tunes" says Rebecca.

Little Notes classes were originally brought to Cardiff in 2011 by musician Judith Souter with a focus on live, high quality interactive music making.

Now more than 100 families have signed up with children from three months old and upwards enjoying weekly classes at venues across Cardiff.

With growing demand, Jude invited Rebecca, who is also working for the Arts Council of Wales as a creative agent with Welsh medium primary schools on the Lead Creative Schools scheme to join the Little Notes family and get back to her musical routes on home ground.

Rebecca brings her cello, harp, ukulele, singing voice and myriad little instruments for children to play, to classes on Wednesday mornings at 9.30am.
