ONE FAMILY recently donned their swimming trunks in freezing conditions to help raise money for Ashgrove School.

They braved the freezing waters of the Barry Island New Year’s Day Dip in order to raise funds for an outdoor intervention based at Ashgrove School called 'Coastal Connections'.

This intervention offers pupils at Ashgrove School opportunity to learn and explore in an alternative environment with a focus upon health, well-being, self-esteem and confidence.

£512 was raised in total.

The funds raised have meant that new equipment can be bought enriching the pupils’ experience. One of the pupils said: “With our new camera I will be able to take photographs of the different things I find at the beach and then try to identify them back at school.

The family involved added: “We would like to thank all those involved for making the New Year’s Day Dip so successful. We had lots of support from our family and friends, as well as Inkdogz who were able to provide the t-shirts at short notice.”
