PENARTH Town Mayor Councillor Martin Turner and Mayoress Dorothy Turner held a very successful and entertaining charity choir concert at the Paget Rooms on Saturday, February 28.

The event was sold out and additional seats had to be brought in to accommodate those who had not bought a ticket in advance.

The choirs on the night were Cavatina, Sully U3A Singing for Pleasure, Trinity Singers, Penarth Community Choir, Angela Morris Parry Ensemble and the Spectrum Singers. There was also a solo performance by Britain's Got Talent sensation Jodi Bird.

The night was in aid of the Town Mayor’s nominated charities, for his year in office, which are Llamau (Homeless Young People and Penarth Live at Home Scheme).

A large number of prizes, many donated by local businesses, were raffled during the night.

Councillor Turner wishes to thank everyone who supported the event which it is hoped will raise in the region of £2,000.
