POLICE in Penarth are appealing for witnesses after a dog attacked a walker and his dog on Cardiff Barrage.

The incident happened on Tuesday, February 2, at around 3.55pm on Cardiff Barrage. Two miniature schnowser dogs were being walked across the Barrage when the owner, a 63-year-old man from Penarth, was approached by another dog, which was off the lead, and started to bite one of the schnowsers.

The dog also attacked the man when he intervened to save his dog.

The woman with the dog that attacked the gentleman is described as being white in her 40’s and was wearing a dark coloured coat. Her dog is believed to have been either a lurcher cross Staffordshire or a lurcher cross pit-bull.

Police Sergeant Julie Odgers said: “We are trying to track this woman and her dog and we would ask that if anyone has details about this incident that they contact us."
