A POPULAR husband and wife retail team are set to shut up shop after 20 years.

Peter and Lynne Ellis, of Windsor Gifts, on Windsor Road in Penarth, have announced they will be moving on to pastures new at the end of March.

Mrs Ellis said: "We have loved being in Penarth town centre and have enjoyed the community spirit in our shop at Windsor Gifts."

But after committing to 20 years in retail, previously owning Chicos Lifestyle Furniture and another shop in Dinas Powys, the pair have decided that the time is now right for them to enjoy some down time.

Mrs Ellis added: "Retail demands that your shop is always open so we are also looking forward to enjoying precious time with family and friends and spending quality time together other than in the working environment."

Retiring from retail will also enable Mr Ellis to concentrate on his other business ventures and, as their children are successful in their own careers, they have no interest in coming into the current business.

Mr Ellis said: "We would like to thank all their customers for their loyalty and support over the years.

"We will definitely miss the regular callers who have also become friends.

Windsor Gifts currently have a special closing down sale on, offering discounts on all their stock. They said that the yankee candles, in particular, are flying off the shelf.

"Everything must go so don’t miss out," Mr Ellis added: "Grab yourself a bargain as once it’s gone, it’s gone."
