A CAFE has stepped up to provide much needed support for an elderly social scheme.

Foxy's Deli, of Victoria Road in Penarth, will help provide meals for the Live at Home Scheme after cuts in funding meant a change of provider from the local authority was required.

The scheme is based at Trinity Methodist Church and provides meals and social opportunities for those over 65 years-old.

There had been fears for its future but from February 29, Foxy's will supply food to the scheme in what organisers hope will give it a new lease of life.

Scheme manager Linda Brownhill said: "We are very much looking forward to a new menu and hopefully new members.

"You don’t have to be a Methodist to join our club, anybody is welcome over the age of 65.

"Not only is this a great opportunity to eat an excellent meal but it is also a chance to meet others."

If you sometimes feel lonely and would like to know more about the Monday to Friday lunch club ring 02920 712516.

Guests can enjoy a two course meal for £5.50 but pre-booking is essential.
