AN AWARD winning jewellery designer will be plying her trade at a shop in Penarth.

Rowley's of Glebe Street is welcoming Saha Saki, an Iranian jeweller based in Cardiff and Susie Cobbledick, an upholster based in the town.

Miss Saki's collection will be revealed during an event at the store on Saturday, May 7 between 4-7pm.

It is part of the shop's tradition of featuring and nurturing new designer makers and local artists alongside well known jewellery and watch brands such as Clogau Welsh Gold and Citizen watches.

Rowley's have been incubating crafts men and women across many disciplines since 2004, providing an environment for them to test and retail their products.

Glass makers Angelina Hall and Cathy O' Doherty were among those who spent time at the shop and will soon to be launched as Glass by Design retailing their handmade glass products.

Miss Saki's jewellery is inspired by the Minimalism movement and Bauhaus design and she has had over 25 solo exhibitions as an artist and received an UNESCO Award for Excellence.

Ms Cobbledick specialises in upholstering antique, vintage and retro furniture, producing quality bespoke furniture, restored with traditional upholstery techniques and materials and with an eye for period styles and aesthetics.

She uses Guild of Master Upholsterers approved traditional upholstery techniques.

Mrs Aydin Barberini commented: "Susie's skills work perfectly in combination with the selection of Melin Tregwynt upholstery fabrics which can be made to measure at Rowley's."
