Extracts from the Penarth Times of July 22, 1966:

Penarth Council has welcomed proposals from Glamorgan County Council for two new primary schools for the town.

They gave their approval on Monday to applications from the County Council for the siting of a primary and nursery school at Cogan at the end of Cawnpore Street, and for a junior and infants' school at Evenlode Avenue at the rear of the Athletic Field.

BBC television cameras were filming at Raisdale Marine Parade last week on sequences to be used in a play Why Me? to be shown in the autumn

The annual sports of St Alma's School were held at Penarth Recreation Ground on the morning of July 13. It was a very successful occasion and the final points awarded were: St David's House, 48 points; St George's House, 33 points.

1148 (Penarth) Squadron ATC is one of the town's youth organisations to benefit this year from the Penarth British Legion's generous gift of £15.

The Squadron says a big "thank you" to the British Legion and would like to assure the club that the money will be put to good use in helping to purchase a film projector for the Squadron's own use.

To mark the close relationship between the 532 Ambulance Squadron RCT (TA) and TS Glamorgan, the two organisations exchange plaques at a social evening at the Drill Hall last Tuesday.

Final plans are now being made for the Gala Fete which promises to be one of the star attractions at the end of the town's Holiday Week.

Last Saturday, the finals of the Windsor Lawn Tennis Club's Annual Championships were fought with skill and determination not seen on the courts for many years.

The presentation of prizes by Penarth and District Skittles League took place at the Ex-Servicemen's Club on Tuesday, July 12.
