FOR their July meeting, members of Sully U3A were treated to a fascinating talk by Donald Knight on the subject of Japanese Gardens and the Art of Bonsai.
Don explained that Bonsai, which means “tree in a pot” has been his passion since he was a child and that it is all about imagination and copying nature. He brought several of his trees with him, including an English Elm which he has been growing for 35 years.
All of his trees are kept outside in specially created Japanese gardens which Don has designed. His present garden in Llantwit Major can be visited by prior arrangement.
The August meeting is the annual open meeting when all the groups will demonstrate what they do. Everyone is welcome to come to the Old School, Sully, between 2pm and 4pm on Thursday, August 11 to have a cup of tea and see what the U3A is all about.
