WHILE we wait to see if a headland link is feasible – given that the cost spiralled to more than £20 million last time due to the instability of the cliff face and the millions spent on feasibility that had to be repaid by the Vale Council – please could we have a bus to and from the seafront to the town centre that is more frequent than the 89B every two hours.
We could have a hop-on, hop-off tourist bus from the barrage to the cliff top via the seafront, perhaps with a commentary on Penarth’s rich Victorian legacy, and 24 hour tickets, as with the Isle of Wight’s popular Breezer buses.
We might get more fresh ideas and involvement from younger people, as we did from the well-attended Penarth civic society meeting on the future of Penarth, if we had a retirement age of 70 for our councillors as we do for JPs.
