South Wales Senior League Division One

Penydarren 2 - Sully Sports 2

SPORTS travelled to the “Bont” Penydarren for this league return game after last week’s win at Swanbridge. The conditions were excellent and the impressive ground would put many higher teams in envy of their facilities.

The home team were out for revenge and started well keeping the Sports defence busy with Kieron Sharratt returning. Both teams fired in early shots which were dealt with and the clever Colville was in good form after his hattrick last week.

Sports went into a 20 minute lead when Conner Mcinery saw his shot deflected past the home keeper. That spurred the Penydarren team on to react with some very good efforts which saw Sports at full stretch and they equalised, as half time approached the teams were level.

The second half started brilliantly for Sully when a five man move ended with a pin point centre from Brown finding his striker and Alex Long duly headed past the keeper to regain the lead.

Again the home team came back and with centre forward Nathan Edwards in great form as he went at the Sully defence. The effort the Sully boys were finding was top drawer and try like they did; Penydarren could not pierce the Sully defence.

Sports had some good chances too however, with five minutes left Penydarren capitalised on a rare mistake and Colville hit the equaliser and then in injury time Williams crashed a shot against the Sully post and the ball was cleared as the referee called full time.

A draw being a decent result for Sports in a very hard game. MOM was Wesley Lamb for Sully.
