A VERY professional performance from the villagers this Saturday knowing the homeside are a strong outfit at this level, Dinas had to be on their game throughout.

Skipper Zak Fifield took advantage of the strong wind winning the toss and playing with the wind behind them. Dinas started very brightly.

Saunders thought he had opened the scoring but was adjudged to be offside. Moments later though Sully broke through and scored a well worked goal to take an early lead. This only fired the team in red and black on.

Morris and Stowell in goals made sure the defence had quality balls to allow them to play out. Doughty, Fifield and Harewood started to win the battle in the middle of the park whilst Hewitson and Saunders are a force for any defence on their day. Goals soon came from Saunders, Hewitson, Booker and finally Quest. The latter being the goal of the game with a five one touch move freeing Booker up to cross to Quest who powered in a fine back post header.

At the break the visitors looked very comfortable and O’Brien, Mallam, Frost, Lewis, Mossey and Williams all taking it in turns in defence coped very well.

The big question was how Wolves would cope playing into the wind. Simple keep it down and try and play out. Using all their subs wisely is key at this age and replacing players regularly was a great benefit to Dinas.

Pereria battled very hard throughout the match showing why he is a key player with his determination showing throughout. The second half was a battle as Sully threw bodies forward but Mossey, Lewis, O’Brien and Williams showed why they are regarded very highly.

Harewood, Doughty and Fifled are all very capable players using the ball wisely to free up Booker and Hewitson wide. Saunders chased every lost ball down making it very hard for Sully to play out.

Sully managed to pull a goal back but Dinas soon struck again when Doughty popped up in the pocket to rifle home. The final period of the game saw Frost play in an unfamiliar role but again was able to play football and look for an early ball out.

After a few under par performances when the lads know they could have played a more attractive game it was very refreshing to see them get back to playing the right way. Final score Sully 2, Dinas 6.
