BRIGGS & Stratton are offering football, rugby and cricket teams the opportunity to enter their competition Pitch to Win which is open until March 31 2015.

The competition is open to all amateur football, rugby and cricket teams in Britain with an under 18s team, both boys and girls.

The outdoor petrol powered equipment engine manufacturer is looking for Britain’s worst pitch in the aim of giving £3,000 for a makeover to each sport with the overall winner getting a further £1,000 to help restore the pitch to its former glory.

First, second and third places will be awarded in each sports category with second place getting £500 and third £250 for their club kitty.

The competition is run in conjunction with the Institute of Groundsmanship (IOG), the professional membership organisation for grounds staff and those involved in the management of sports pitches and facilities in the UK. As part of the prize, the winning teams will receive expert advice from the IOG as well as a technical evaluation report on how best to maintain their pitch in the future.
