CELEBRATING its 25th Anniversary this year, the Murch Bowling Club opened the current outdoor season on Saturday, April 18, designated ‘Terry Nolan Day’ in memory of one of the founder members who established the club in 1990 and who contributed greatly to its development in the subsequent years.

This year, for the first time, the players were competing for the Terry Nolan Trophy, to be awarded annually on this day.

The club president Judy Fudge, Men’s captain, Marc Hughes and Ladies’ captain, Sheila Mauchline welcomed the members to the Open Day festivities on a beautiful sunny day. Players then chose their places around the green to bowl for the customary bottle of whisky, which was won by Terry Phillips, the men’s vice captain.

The mixed rinks enjoyed an afternoon’s bowling with the wining rink of Ron Crouch, John Evans, Judy Fudge and Tony Rice, receiving the Terry Nolan Trophy.

Players and spectators alike adjourned to the club house for the customary buffet and evening celebrations.
